Partiendo del tema central de la película La Guardarraya (1964) este libro usa la metáfora de “guardarrayas imaginarias” para advertir a los lectores sobre los peligros de “su ignorancia, o su soberbia, o sus prejuicios fanáticos o sus complejos de inferioridad.” Especialmente se critica a los fanáticos religiosos y políticos, cuya intolerancia crea una barrera impenetrable entre ellos y los que piensan diferente. Una ilustración llamativa por Antonio Maldonado, muestra a un hombre aguantando una bandera soviética y levantando su puño hacia un documento que lee “Libertad de expresión.”

Taking as a point of departure the central theme of the film La Guardarraya (1964), this book makes use of the metaphor of “imaginary boundary fences” to warn readers of the dangers of “their ignorance, or their pride, or the fanatical prejudices or their inferiority complexes”. Special criticism is reserved for religious and political zealots whose intolerance creates an impenetrable barrier between themselves and those who think differently than they do. One especially striking illustration, by Antonio Maldonado, shows a man holding a Soviet flag and raising a fist toward a document that reads “Freedom of Expression.”
