Libros para el pueblo, No.2
6 1/2" x 9 1/2"

Like many of the Libros para el pueblo, the second title in the series opens with an introduction that foments national pride by stressing, among other things, that “this book has been written, illustrated and printed in Puerto Rico for Puerto Ricans”. The booklet contains a series of essays that describe how people around the globe have managed to adapt to the vastly different places in which they live. The opening section on Puerto Rico focuses largely on the natural splendor of the island and the importance of land and sea as a source of sustenance. The author explains, however, that due to the scarcity of available land, “a great effort is being made to establish and bring industry to our island to increase production as much as possible”
